Intermediate Hand Embroidery Class : Learn How to Stitch a Wreath Sash
Kaitlyn True fell in love with hand embroidery after making a few simple pieces of clothing for her own children. What started as a way to slow her mind at night quickly spiraled into the most fun job she could have ever imagined! With this class, a few supplies and some basic stitches, you too will be creating beautiful works of art in no time.
Each participant will take home their very own hands on art plus their own hand embroidery supply kit ready for future projects! Kaitlyn will be there to teach you the basic stitches of hand embroidery and will give tips on how to continue your craft. You will also learn how to transfer a pattern, set up your fabric in the hoop, and which supplies are best to use and why.
Because hand embroidery is a "slow" craft and people tend to work at different paces, each participant may not complete the entire craft during class.
Included in your class: all supplies, fabulous snacks and drinks!

About the Trainer
Kaitlyn True
I first started sewing in 6th grade when my mom found out I was selling purses at school that were held together with hot glue. She was like nah uhhhh and shut that business down fast with the lesson of “if you’re gonna do it, you’re gonna do it right”. Small purses made on my mom’s sewing machine soon turned into bags which then turned into curtains… lampshades... skirts…. even shoes! - you name it and I was probably trying to figure out a way to make it. Thanks to my mama 🫶🏻
Fast forward 19ish years… I had a high risk and very scary pregnancy with our second baby, Lou, from the very beginning. I left my job of almost 10 years to take care of myself and my pregnancy. After delivery, Lou spent 103 days in the NICU at Children’s and it was absolutely the hardest thing we’ve ever walked through as a family. Five months separated the day my water broke and the day Lou came home. I lost so much of myself and things I loved during that time. We were living minute-by-minute and hanging on in survival mode. Lou was finally discharged on August 2, 2022 and I spent the next three months sitting at home and holding both of my babies.
In October of 2022, I wanted Mac and Lou’s names added to their Halloween costumes so I called my friend Taylor Walhood for help with all of the hand embroidery tips. What was supposed to be two costumes soon became entire wardrobes for my children because I immediately fell. in. love. My previous job was in apparel design, my degree is in graphic design, & my passion has always been creating hands on art (remember the hot glue purses?! 😝). I love handwritten anything, dabbling in calligraphy, and giving personalized gifts. I realized quickly that hand embroidery merged everything I’ve ever loved and allowed me to play with my most recent obsession - children’s clothes! Most importantly, hand embroidery allowed me to begin to heal my mind from my past year of trauma while simultaneously doing something I really, really enjoy.
